My favorite credit card perk is the option to visit premium travel lounges at airports around the world. I've enjoyed my fair share of complimentary cocktails and snacks before flights, and the price of admission is included in the annual fee of my
These days, I'm not going anywhere near airplanes, airports, or travel lounges. I don't plan to head back to the skies anytime soon, but I'm still enjoying the premium benefits and perks of my credit cards while at home. Here's a look at five to rewards card perks you can still use right now during the coronavirus pandemic.
Use the Uber credit on the Amex Platinum for food delivery
The
I'm not going to ride in an Uber right now, but I'm happy to have one drop dinner off at my house. With an Amex Platinum card, you can get a good portion of a meal covered each month, or maybe the whole thing depending on what you order. This benefit is worth up to $200 per year.
Chase Sapphire Reserve membership to DoorDash DashPass and statement credits
The
The card also gives you up to $120 in statement credits for DoorDash through the end of 2021 ($60 in credits in 2020 and another $60 in 2021). Taking into account the DashPass discounts, you can stretch that to get multiple meals.
Save up to $10 per month on food delivery with the Amex Gold
The
Many people would happily use this credit for a discount on a to-go order from one of these restaurants. I'm a bigger fan of using the credit for GrubHub, where the $10 monthly credit roughly covers the cost of delivery and tip for an order in my experience.
I'm also a big fan of the card's 4x points this card offers on purchases at restaurants worldwide and on the first $25,000 spent per calendar year at US supermarkets (then 1 point per dollar), which will help me have enough Amex Membership Rewards points to get back in the air as soon as I'm comfortable traveling by plane again.
Use the Citi Prestige card's travel credit for food
The
If you're buying groceries or picking up a to-go order, the credit can cover much of the cost. This benefit is valid through the end of 2020.
Don't let credit card perks go to waste
If you have a premium travel rewards card, take a few minutes to review its benefits and see if it's added any special features for 2020. You could be sitting on hundreds of dollars in credits or other potential benefits.
It's also a good time to shop around for a new rewards card. You can stockpile miles and points now to go on amazing trips once COVID-19 is behind us. Until then, put these and similar perks to use to get free and discounted meal delivery, groceries, and more.
